🐣 We’ve hatched a new study on the nutritional benefits of black soldier fly meal for layer hens! 🐔🥚 This essential fundamental research paves the way for insect ingredients to take flight in poultry feed. 🚀 

Our study delved into the digestibility, examining the nutritional value of black soldier fly protein (ProteinX®). The result: ProteinX holds immense promise as a sustainable and efficient alternative protein for poultry feed.  

Here’s a peek at the techy stuff: good apparent metabolisable energy (AME), good apparent total tract nutrient digestibility coefficients (ATTDC), and a great calculated standardised ileal amino acids digestibility coefficient (SIDC). It even surpasses soybean meal in some qualities!📊🔬

Exciting news for those at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the aquaculture industry; a recent study conducted by the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) in Norway has shed light on the positive impact of insect-based feed on salmon health. 🐟 

Key findings of this research indicate that a diet incorporating our Protix ProteinX© insect-derived meal at an inclusion rate of up to 10% has positive effects on dealing with stress, the mucosal barrier, wound healing and liver health. At the same time, growth performance and mortality remain comparable with a commercial reference feed. 

Switching to insect-based feed is perceived as a promising alternative that can promote piscine health and wellbeing, and is more sustainable. The study marks a significant stride towards serving up more sustainable salmon on consumers’ plates.
