Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a serious health concern for diabetic patients, potentially leading to severe vision loss or blindness, if not diagnosed early. In the Czech Republic, 9.8% of the population is affected by Diabetes as indicated in the latest report of International Diabetes Federation . To enable timely detection of possible first signs of DR to all concerned, our Artificial Intelligence RetCAD software has been included in the national reimbursement program in the Czech Republic. Having trained local eye care providers, in cooperation with @Czech Diabetic Society, we are happy to see the AI-enabled tool being rolled out further, offering quick an accurate diagnosis on-the-spot. National Eye Screening Programs are crucial for ensuring timely care for Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) patients, addressing the challenge of a low doctor-to-patient ratio. Over the past two decades, the number of diabetic patients in Australia has been steadily increasing. As of 2022, 5.3% of the poulation suffers from Diabetes. Delayed access to an on-time diagnosis and treatment is highly prevalent in remote Australian communities. To address this issue, we have partnered with Topcon Healthcare Europe to enable on-the-spot eye screening solutions across Australia. Our Artificial Intelligence powered Software RetCAD, integrated with Topcon's fundus cameras can detect DR quickly and accurately. The Latest report released by @IDF shows that as of 2021, 20'300 people suffered from #Diabetes in the Curacao. As Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a highly prevalent eye condition among diabetic patients, its early detection is crucial in order to initiate a timely treatment and prevent further vision deterioration and potentially even blindness. To overcome the limited accessibility to specialized eye care points, we have partnered with @LabdeMED to bring preventive #DR screening to all inhabitants of the Curacao island, including remote rural areas. Our #ArtificialIntelligence powered software, #RetCAD allows mobile teams to quickly and automatically analyze large numbers of fundus eye images of diabetic patients, providing on the spot assessment of the DR presence. Timely treatment is crucial to prevent severe vision complications and even blindness for people suffering from Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). But delayed diagnosis and increasing patient loads in opthalmology clinic pose challenges. DR is a significant concern among diabetic patients. In the Netherlands, 1.1 million individuals are living with diabetes, with 10-15% of them affected by DR. To tackle these large numbers and clinical workload, we have partnered with leading Dutch hospitals like Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis and Gelre ziekenhuizen to enable faster and more efficient patient care. Our Artificial Intelligence Software, RetCAD seamlessly integrates into clinical workflows, allowing ophthalmologists to reduce diagnostic lead times and enhancing the triaging process. The latest reports released by World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that #Glaucoma is one of the leading causes in vision impairment and blindness. The disease is characterized by damage to the optic nerve as a result of high-pressure development in the eye. Several studies show that patients diagnosed with Glaucoma have not reported prior warning signs. The earliest possible detection thus is crucial for initiating a timely treatment. Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Software RetCAD™, supporting efficient and effective Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-Related Macular Degeneration Diagnosis, has shown potential in detecting possible clinical ocular biomarkers in incidental diseases such as hypertensive retinopathy. In a study conducted at Dobney Hypertension Centre, Western Australia between 2018 and 2022, the fundus images of 433 patients with treatment-resistant hypertension were analyzed using 3 deep learning algorithms and RetCAD™ was one among them. The study illustrates that AI solutions such as RetCAD™ can add clinical value in other retinal diseases by capturing more biomarkers for incidental diseases. This suggests a strong potential in other ocular clinical applications. Telemedicine, mobile hand-held fundus cameras, and AI-powered automated algorithms have the potential to improve the efficacy of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) screening programs. It is estimated that by 2045, globally, 783 million people will suffer from Diabetes. DR is a major complication of Diabetes and can lead to irreversible vision loss and blindness. Early diagnosis and on-time treatment can support the prevention of developing sight threatening DR. In Finland, successful National DR Screening Programs have been implemented utilizing the power of telemedicine in the country’s rural areas as well. In the recent study conducted at Oulu University Hospital, 156 patients suffering from Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes were recruited for non-referrable and referrable DR identification. 1248 fundus images of these patients were captured using the non-mydriatic handheld fundus camera #OptomedAurora by Optomed Plc . Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) -based Software, RetCAD™ was one among the 21 AI analytics software used in combination with this fundus camera to screen for DR. The results of this study showed that the mean values of sensitivity and specificity was 77.5% and 80.6 percent respectively. This study iterates the strong potential of DR screening using hand-held fundus cameras and AI-based algorithms.
