Nearly 150 Bored Ape Yacht Club non-fungible tokens have been stolen since the blue-chip collection was launched in June 2021, according a report released by Web3 security firm Immunefi. The 143 NFTs, collectively worth $13,582,962, were stolen from owners through a variety of scams and hacks. The majority of that value was stolen during two major hacks (instagram and Discord's phishing link) in 2022.

The service, Ethermine Staking, will permit users to contribute funds as low as 0.1 ETH to a massive pool of user contributions that will be collectively staked to create and earn new ETH, once the much-anticipated merge transitions ETC to a proof-of-stake model. Solana Wallets Targeted in Latest Multimillion-Dollar Hack.

The attack is still ongoing, and over 8,000 wallets have been compromised thus far, according to blockchain auditors OtterSec. Several Solana addresses have been linked to the attack, with those wallets amassing at least $5 million worth of SOL, SPL and other Solana-based tokens from unsuspecting users.

Chainlink Claims Not to Support Ethereum PoW Fork Versions

Chainlink announced that it would not support Ethereum PoW forks. This is the oracle protocol widely used by dApps on Ethereum. Chainlink also reminds users to pause smart contract operations to avoid unforeseen issues as Ethereum developers and dApp teams are uncertain about their migration strategy around The Merge.

Ethereum Sepolia Testnet to Undergo Execution Layer Upgrade on August 17th

Ethereum Foundation announced that the Sepolia testnet will undergo a post-merge execution layer upgrade at block 1735371, expected on August 17th. The Goerli testnet and Ethereum mainnet will also conduct similar upgrades after these networks have transitioned to proof-of-stake.

Meta is expanding NFT support on Instagram to 100 countries.

Citi: Ethereum’s Merge Will Have Several Consequences for the Blockchain

Ethereum will probably become deflationary as token issuance decreases while the burn mechanism is maintained, the bank said. The move to PoS turns ETH into a “yield-bearing asset” with cash flows, the bank said, which may be interpreted as a form of revenue for the network. Having potential cash flows would allow the use of a range of valuation methods that aren't available for the blockchain now, the bank added.
