Proparco is a development finance institution partly owned by the French Development Agency (AFD) that promotes sustainable development in developing countries. It provides funding and support to private sector projects with positive social and environmental impacts.

#DidYouKnow ❔ In #SouthAfrica, TUHF plays a key role in financing quality affordable #housing. Since its creation in 2003, TUHF has financed over 46,000 rental units. Its subsidiary uMaStandi operates in the townships of South Africa.
 
📣 Nomakhosi Makolota, Entrepreneur in the commercial property sector, has been able to develop a number of housing programmes in the country’s townships thanks to the support of uMaStandi. "I struggled for years to get funding until I came across uMaStandi. Without the uMaStandi teams, I would never have been able to do business in these areas, which are of no interest to traditional developers." 

🤝 In 2022, Proparco granted TUHF a line of credit in local currency equivalent to €10 million.

👏 🌾 Agris receives €490 000 Technical Assistance facility from Proparco, through FISEA+, to boost #climateresilience and social #impact.

🔧 Among other objectives, this facility is allocated to Agris and its affiliated agri-food enterprises in Kenya and South Sudan, to promote economic inclusion, consolidate their #genderequality strategy, broaden local distribution channels...

🌿 It will contribute to create direct and indirect jobs, training for #farmers and enable greater #women's empowerment.

Four years ago, #COVID19 brought the planet to a standstill, leading to major economic difficulties in the years that followed. 

🇪🇺 In 2022, thanks to the support of the European Commission through the #EFSD Covid Response guarantee, Proparco was able to support AccèsBanque Madagascar, a commercial bank specialising in #microfinance.

#AccèsBanqueMadagascar was set up in 2006 with a strong entrepreneurial focus. It serves 40 000 clients with 50% hashtag #women via network of branches and over 600 employees.

The project thereby benefits support from the #EuropeanUnion, which has been strengthening its commitment to the private sector for several years.
 
The impacts of the project: 
✅ Access to microcredit for 3,450 beneficiaries 
📈 Support for 1,900 jobs
📊 Support for the financing of 85 SMEs
📂 Mobilization of EUR 2 million of private finance
