U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Scientific and Technical Information

The Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) is a department within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that provides access to the results of DOE-sponsored research and development (R&D) activities. OSTI's mission is to advance science and sustain technological creativity by making R&D findings available and useful to DOE researchers and the American public.

The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), a unit of the Office of Science within DOE, fulfills agency-wide responsibilities to collect, preserve, and disseminate scientific and technical information (STI) emanating from DOE research and development (R&D) activities. 

OSTI also is responsible for providing public access to scholarly scientific publications resulting from DOE-funded research, and managing the collection of all DOE STI through the collaborative DOE Scientific and Technical Information Program (STIP).

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), represented by the Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), has joined other federal agencies to promote and contribute to the Year of Open Science. Throughout 2023, federal agencies are collaborating to inspire open science engagement through events and activities that will advance adoption of open, equitable, and secure science.

DOE OSTI hosts and maintains the Year of Open Science website - Open.Science.Gov. DOE has featured PIDs@OSTI.GOV (DOE's persistent identifier services), the Public Reusable Research (PuRe) Data Resources, and DOE CODE (the DOE software services platform and search tool).
