FSIS ensures food safety through the authorities of the Federal Meat Inspection Act, the Poultry Products Inspection Act, and the Egg Products Inspection Act; and humane animal handling through the authority of Humane Methods of Slaughter Act.

FSIS Administrator Paul Kiecker spoke at a regional Small Plant Roundtable held in Ohio. Attendees heard from presenters about sanitation, labeling claims, and grants. These roundtables are a great opportunity for plant owners to speak directly with FSIS leadership and learn more about how the agency supports small and very small meat and poultry establishments. The next Small Plant Roundtable will be in Oklahoma in March.

Planning for retirement is a journey and knowing when you’re eligible to retire is a critical milestone. Federal employees' eligibility is determined by a combination of your age and years of creditable service. In most cases, you must reach the minimum retirement age (MRA) to access retirement benefits. Do you know what your MRA is? The MRAs vary, ranging from age 55 to 57 based on your birth year. However, it’s important to note that reaching the MRA alone doesn’t unlock full retirement benefits, such as maximum annuity or full Social Security Benefits.
