Steal our approach to the European Digital Identity Wallet! 🙌 🥷 We've been building an EUDI wallet prototype for the co-opetition hosted by SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen . Here are our suggestions for taking some time-saving shortcuts when getting involved with digital identity! 🔄 Use existing solutions A lot (a LOT) of work is being done right now in digital identity. Most of it is open-source and built by people who would ✨love✨ for you to use their solution. Consider using a solution directly or taking the code repository as a base for your own solution. For example, our EUDI wallet work will end up in the Paradym wallet ( https://lnkd.in/gBFra_nk ), which is free in stores and licensed under Apache 2.0! 🛠️ Don't build from scratch If you want to build your own solution to issue, verify, or store digital identity credentials, we highly recommend building on existing tools! We built our EUDI wallet with the Credo framework ( https://lnkd.in/gMgV_TrB ) hosted under the OpenWallet Foundation . If you use Credo, you not only have a big shortcut regarding features and standards implemented, but you also get access to a community that supports your efforts. The European Commission has a lot of libraries as well as a reference implementation to use ( https://lnkd.in/eeTDDvum ). There's really not any reason to start from scratch. 🤝 Work together With how digital identity interactions function, we simply cannot work on an island, don't waste time thinking you can. Different parties are always involved, and everyone benefits from working together early and often. Even though we are all working to support the same standards, interop is not (yet) something to take for granted. Join communities ( OpenWallet Foundation , Fides - Accelerating Digital Trust , DIIP, etc.) to make sure you're not left behind! Is decentralized digital identity past the innovation stage? Not according to the German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation SPRIND. This year the Animo team first learned about the existence of SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen (Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation). SPRIND launches competition-based innovation trajectories with the aim of offering answers to the immense challenges of our time. Our connection to them is, of course, in the realm of decentralized identity. As all EU member states are currently figuring out how to deal with the EUDI wallet and adopting decentralized identity, SPRIND set out a challenge for teams to develop the most trustworthy, user-friendly, and universally applicable European Digital Identity Wallet. https://lnkd.in/eazhzm9Q With a funded and a non-funded track, the three stages of this challenge will result in 6 open source wallet prototypes, important contributions to the eIDAS 2.0 Architecture Concept, and countless lessons learned about the actual implementation and adoption of European Digital Identity. It brings together qualified teams with diverse expertise to really do what they do best: build and learn. The Animo team is currently doing just that in Stage 2 of the co-opetition. Why are we so invested in Credo? Credo (hosted under the OpenWallet Foundation ) has evolved over the years to a modern and modular TypeScript framework you can use to build relying parties, issuers, and identity wallets with different tech stacks. It's honestly a real joy to work with as a developer, both in terms of usability and it's features. The framework is compliant and interoperable with identity standards across the world. Credo is agnostic to any specific exchange protocol, credential format, signature suite, or did method. Let's go! 🚀🛠️🎉 Animo's prototype for an EUDI Wallet (demo: https://lnkd.in/grpvMjGu ) was selected to continue to Stage 2 of the SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen Funke "EUDI Wallet Prototypes"! We will be continuing in the funded track with Sphereon.com , Ubique Innovation , and AUTHADA GmbH , whose solutions we got to see during the SPRIN-D event in Berlin this week. 👏👏👏 Congratulations to all teams who participated in Stage 1. The competition was definitely steep, as the solutions that TICE and Governikus presented were also incredible. 👏👏👏 Animo delivered a robust Apache-2.0 licensed prototype wallet for iOS and Android, including a great UX/UI and the C and B’ PID receive and presentation flows. During the project, we contributed valuable features to the Credo framework, which will also be made available in Paradym soon. In the next Stage we'll be working with the Potential LSP in the Use Cases for Banking and Mobile Drivers License!

Showcasing our EUDI Wallet Prototype! 🚀🛠️ If you've been following along, you know Animo was one of the 11 teams SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen selected to create a prototype for the German European Digital Identity Wallet application. In this video, we showcase our submission for stage 1, where you can receive your identity by scanning the German eID card. Different countries will implement different ways for the identity card to be digitized! We use our platform Paradym as the organisation who wants to verify the identity information. Simply said: the EUDI digital wallet will make the digital administration that comes with any big life event faster and more secure. By enabling people to store and share aspects of their identity through verifiable credentials, verification can happen instantly (and securely). No more printing, scanning, photographing sensitive data, for it to be considered in 20 business days. Think, for example, about digitally verifying your driver's license when renting a car 🚗, verifying your insurance when making an appointment 🏥, or verifying your mortgage plans when buying a house 🏡. https://lnkd.in/grpvMjGu

Amazing to share our prototype for the EUDI Wallet today with so many interested parties. You hear a lot of people discussing the long road ahead. And that's true. But when Animo was founded almost 5 years ago, this type of interest and adoption was impossible to imagine. We are making progress, we are moving forward. Thanks to all the other teams who have delivered awesome applications! It has been great to connect and watch the demo's. 🎉
