On Thursday afternoon, the orange army of Team Atracta, including Burlington Engineering Managing Director Peter Lynskey, crossed the finish line to mark the end of the 2024 Paris2Nice fundraising cycle. Peter and over 50 others completed their 700km + cycle from Paris to Nice over the course of six days. Peter is part of a group of cyclists including Eamonn Rogers , Patrick Bolger , Ultan Bannon , and Killian Flanagan attempting to raise €150,000 in order to fund a research programme into the development of an early detection system for Ovarian Cancer. With the help of suppliers, work colleagues, friends and family, Peter has raised nearly €29,000. This tremendous support has enabled the overall research fund to stand, as of today, at over €110,000.00. Peter, his fellow team cyclists and the whole team at Breakthrough Cancer Research want to thank everybody that donated, supported and encouraged us to reach this amazing sum. Thank you all so much! ⛳️ Last Friday, Burlington Engineering hosted our annual fundraising golf event for key suppliers in Howth Golf Club with the aim of raising money for Breakthrough Cancer Research. Despite the inclement weather, a great day was had by all, and more importantly, over €21,000.00 was raised for this important cause! Many thanks to all companies who entered a team on the day and also others who sponsored tee boxes and greens or simply made donations. In early September, Managing Director of Burlington Peter Lynskey will be joining over 50 others in the Paris2Nice cycle with the aim of raising €175,000.00 in honour of Attracta O'Regan and the hundreds of other women who lose their lives to Ovarian Cancer every year. This challenging 6 day cycle will cover over 700km and test all cyclists yo their limits! All funds go towards a research scholarship to develop an early detection test. This year, Burlington Engineering Limited have linked up with Paris2Nice and Breakthrough Cancer Research to fundraise for research for the early detection of ovarian cancer. Over 400 women in Ireland are diagnosed with ovarian cancer annually. It’s an extremely aggressive form of cancer, and tragically results in over 290 deaths every year. Our friend, Attracta O'Regan (55 years old), sadly recently passed away from ovarian cancer. She was a wife, mum of 4, grandmother to 2 adored grandchildren, passionate about her family, a lawyer with a passion for learning, human rights, the rule of law and helping others. There is currently no accurate test for the early detection of ovarian cancer. That is why we are fundraising for the charity Breakthrough Cancer Research. We have initiated the Attracta O’Regan PhD Scholarship for research into the early detection of ovarian cancer. This is a comprehensive four-year research project, costing €150,000. All donations go to research. So, how are we fundraising €150,000? In September, Managing Director of Burlington - Peter Lynskey, along with with Attracta's husband, son, and over fifty of her friends and associates are embarking on a self-funded cycle from Paris to Nice (700+km) to raise €150,000. The cycle is a six day journey from North to South and despite the challenges of that arduous distance, we hope to have some fun along the way. All donations will go to fund the research scholarship.
