Just back from IMC 2024 in Sanya and what an incredible experience! So many inspiring speakers, thought-provoking presentations, and innovative ideas to bring back. It was a privilege to present my poster and share insights from our ongoing research. I really enjoyed the engaging discussions on the topic of low-dose atropine and its potential impact. Another fantastic day at the International Myopia Conference , this time with Ernest Kyei Nkansah (OD, MBA) from the Centre for Eye Research Ireland , who made us very proud by giving his talk on "Longitudinal effects of atropine 0.01% on ocular parameters in European children with myopia". The Refractive Mechanism Map (RAM) was utilised to determine whether myopia was axial length, corneal or internal dioptric power. It was found that 85% had axial myopia, and 0.01% atropine was effective for them but not for the corneal myopes. Well done Ernest Kyei Nkansah (OD, MBA) ! ⚪ 👁 Free Myopia Control Lenses👁 ⚪ Our myopia control research trial on contact lenses still has spaces available. If you have any patients aged 7-11 who would benefit from myopia control and want to be primarily spectacle-free, get in touch with Centre for Eye Research Ireland today. The trial will run for 12 months, and every participant will receive free myopia control contact lenses; there is no placebo group. We will assess their suitability, teach them everything they need to know and monitor them for the duration - all free of charge. If you have any patients aged 6-16 who would benefit from myopia control, this is the final call for this trial. The trial will run for 24 months, and every participant will receive a free RayBan spectacle frame and myopia control lenses; there is no placebo group. Both frames and lenses will be changed if required by prescription or growth for the duration of the trial, and again, they will be free of charge. The Centre for Eye Research Ireland (CERI) is currently offering a unique opportunity for a postdoctoral or senior postdoctoral researcher to work with Ian Flitcroft and James Loughman in the field of myopia management. CERI is based in the Greenway Hub at the new flagship Technological University Dublin campus in Dublin, Ireland. CERI is an internationally renowned research facility, and one of the largest myopia management clinical trial centres in the world. We are currently engaged in cutting edge research involving numerous emergent treatments for myopia, as well as a variety of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning initiatives. Experience in myopia management clinical trials, and particularly in data analytics and AI/ML will be particularly advantageous for the role.
