I had an enjoyable Saturday out in the Clonakilty barley fields near Galley Head for the annual Cask Keepers gathering, where we sampled batch #2 of Clonakilty Single Pot Still. This batch will be hitting shelves in the coming weeks. Building on the positive reception of the first release, we will continue to refine the whiskey over the next few batches, with a goal of narrowing in on the goal of creating a whiskey that can proudly sit alongside some very distinguished Cork company for many years to come. I have been very privileged in having been trusted with creating this whiskey. According to Eoin Ó Catháin at the Irish Whiskey Association, 800,000 people visited whiskey distilleries around the island of Ireland between June 2023 and June 2024. The majority came from overseas, primarily the USA, Great Britain, Germany and France. An uptick was reported in visitors from Eastern Europe as well as South and East Asia.
