Winthrop wins Gold at the All-Ireland Occupational Safety Awards. Safety is at the core of everything we do at Winthrop. Our teams undergo regular safety development to ensure that they can consistently preform in the safest, most efficient way possible. We were awarded the Gold Award for Safety at last Friday’s event. Having received the silver award last year, it is great to be recognised for our continuous efforts of creating a culture of safe working across our business. “As with any business, there are risks, but in the construction industry, some of these risks can be classed as critical, and must be managed effectively. It’s important that we take action to ensure that our teams know, and live best practice when it comes to safety. Our continuous commitment in prioritising Safety is essential, and is fundamental to us getting our teams home safe, each day.” – Ivan Conway, EHS Director. We also received a Consistent High Achiever Award, which is awarded to companies who achieve a Distinction or above for five consecutive years. This shows the commitment of our teams to ensure that every person is working together to deliver a safe workplace

Our 2024 intake of graduates gathered in Winthrop Technologies HQ in Dublin for day one of the 2024 Graduate Programme. This year’s cohort is the largest since we began the Graduate Programme, and we are delighted to officially welcome our new colleagues to Winthrop. Participants come to us having graduated from various disciplines, from Finance to Building Information Modelling and Engineering. Since starting the programme they have been learning about areas essential for working in our industry, including an Introduction to Data Centres and Health & Safety. Participants were joined by our senior leadership team to learn about the operational and strategic direction of the company and visited one of our project sites to gain an understanding of the scale of a data centre build. There was also plenty of time for participants to get to know each other, and the Winthrop team through informal gatherings and team building events. Having completed their induction programme, participants have now taken up their new roles on eight sites across five countries in Europe.

This past April 9, Winthrop Technologies once again sponsored the UCD Foundation awards event at the UCD College of Engineering & Architecture in Dublin, Ireland. Michael Lynch and Gwen Gohon represented Winthrop to present the prizes on the night. This marks the third consecutive year that Winthrop has sponsored this event, showcasing dedication to fostering innovation and excellence throughout engineering education. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to connect and showcase the myriad possibilities available at Winthrop Technologies. Congratulation to all the winners on the night and thank you to UCD for providing Winthrop with the opportunity to talk and engage with the next generation of engineering all-stars.

We’re delighted to announce that Winthrop Technologies has entered into a strategic partnership with funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and affiliated funds (“Blackstone”). As part of the transaction, Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager will acquire 50.7% of Winthrop Technologies. We will continue to operate under the Winthrop Technologies brand, and as part of the transaction, the existing leadership will retain a significant minority stake (49.3%), ensuring a continued focus on serving the European data centre market. The partnership represents a vote of confidence in the vision that we have for the Data Centre Sector in Europe. Together with Blackstone, we will accelerate our current business strategy, fuelling our growth ambitions and enhancing our capacity to deliver for clients throughout Europe. Blackstone is aligned with Winthrop Technologies’ growth mindset and will support us in delivering our current business strategy. This will ensure the continuing additional recruitment for high quality roles to support projects in Ireland and across Europe. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings, not just for Winthrop Technologies, but for the benefits that we can offer our clients. In our industry, January is statistically one of the most at-risk months when it comes to health and safety incidents. Winthrop Technologies' commitment to ensuring everyone who works with us goes home safely, every day, inspired our “Strong Start to 2024” campaign in order to defy that trend. Over the past month, each week was designed to tackle a different topic. Week 1 focused on "Let's Get Back in the Zone", reiterating the core principles of safety following the holiday period and regaining that crystal clear focus on safety. Week 2 was our "Line of Fire" focus, showcasing the importance of always being aware at work, ensuring that anyone on any of our projects is always prepared, in terms of awareness, equipment, and tools. The following week, we also highlighted the mental health impact of the new year, including Blue Monday, providing tools and resources as well as working with our partners at the Lighthouse Club to have 24/7 support available for anyone who needs it on any of our projects. Finally, to close out the month, we made sure to reemphasize our SLAM procedure. SLAM (Stop, Look, Assess, Manage) is a four-stage method to minimise risk in an easy to track and rationalise format. It is a core part of day-to-day safety and risk management for both workers and management. Although our "Strong Start to 2024" is coming to a close, our focus and commitment to safety and risk management in every aspect of our projects remains as strong as ever. As the year continues, we will be holding additional campaigns to maintain and build on our sterling safety record!
