More than 6 thousand people from Škoda Auto visited the Elroq Roadshow, the presentation of our latest BEV model. ⚡ Since the beginning of October the event took place in Mladá Boleslav, Laurin & Klement Campus, Vrchlabí, Kvasiny, Česana and Škoda Parts Centre. The unique roadshow aimed to show everyone inside the company a brand new model right after its world premiere. It was a way to express thanks to the people who have been involved in the development and design as well as the production of the new product. The presentation of the new car helped to link the work of individuals to the strategic goals of the entire company, as employees saw the result of many years of work on a large project. The Elroq roadshow educated and entertained at the same time: There was a popular photo corner, a reaction time test, a knowledge quiz or a competition for the longest distance covered on a treadmill during a short sprint. 🚴♂️ The Škoda Elroq is a pioneer in the strategically important compact SUV segment. It boasts a modern, bold, and robust look, proven Škoda driving dynamics, and uncompromising safety features. Joining the Kodiaq and Kushaq models, Kylaq will expand Škoda’s SUV line-up in India. Nevertheless, unlike its older brothers, the new model is entering sub-4-metre segment, which is among the fastest-growing segments in the country. 📈 "The Škoda Kylaq is our first sub-4-metre SUV, designed in India and for India as a new entry point to our brand. Zdeněk Thér joined Škoda Auto as a toolmaker in the Kvasiny plant before becoming the commander of Škoda’s Fire and Rescue Service unit. In 1993, he joined the company’s fire brigade and worked his way up to become the head of a team that now provides round-the-clock fire protection. 🚒 The unit is equipped with two CAS tankers, a ladder platform, and specialized technology, including the CCS Cobra system, which can penetrate through walls and reach enclosed spaces with its high-pressure extinguishing system. “We use the Cobra system to quickly reduce temperatures during fires, making it safer for firefighters to enter the space,” explains Thér. The Škoda fire unit also responds to medical emergencies, providing pre-medical care with automated external defibrillators. Cruise control may seem like a simple feature, but as Ondřej Sychrovský from Škoda’s development team explains, "classic cruise control is part of the engine control unit and controls the engine to maintain a constant speed." The system can’t use the brakes, so it relies on engine braking to manage speed downhill. ⛰️ Adaptive cruise control (ACC) is more advanced. 🛣️ "It can slow down with the engine and brakes, accelerate, and in the case of an automatic transmission, it takes care of gear shifting," says Sychrovský. ACC maintains both speed and distance from the car in front using radar and cameras. Predictive ACC takes this further, using map and camera data to adjust speed for curves and speed limits. According to Sychrovský, "we want to make it more reliable, more robust, easier to use, and safer." Škoda Auto continues to outperform the overall European market in the first three quarters of 2024, delivering 671,300 vehicles worldwide, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year. 🚀 Operating profit grows to €1.7 billion, and return on sales remains robust at 8.3%.
