The Decentralization Research Center (DRC) is a nonprofit organization that supports nonpartisan decentralization research and acts as a hub for critical stakeholders. 

Our mission is to encourage the equitable ownership, governance, and regulation of emerging technologies that impact our everyday lives.

We are excited to announce our launch as the Decentralization Research Center!

As our focus on decentralization extends into fields of research beyond DAOs, we wanted our identity to reflect our evolving mission. 

The unprecedented potential of today’s emerging technologies comes with challenges of an equal scale. Ensuring the equitable design and use of these technologies will require innovative and careful stewardship. 

We believe in cooperation, equitable ownership, and fairly distributed governance, and we will continue to work with industry, academia, and policymakers to achieve those goals. We will continue collaborating on events and publications with leading institutions including Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Toronto, and the University of Tokyo, to encourage decentralization research and application.

As part of the launch, we were honored to sit down with J. Christopher Giancarlo, former chair of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), to discuss innovation, decentralization, and effective regulation of emerging tech.
