The rapid rise of Large Language Models (LLMs) like Gemini, LLaMA, GPT, Grok, Claude or Command has transformed how we live and work, but feel a sense of urgency about the risks they pose to local cultures and languages. These models are overwhelmingly trained on English data, and that imbalance has far-reaching consequences, especially for the cultural richness and diversity I care so much about. Our Goals for the Session are to explore how LLMs, while beneficial, could have the dangerous potential of marginalizing local cultures, potentially spreading misinformation, and contributing to the erosion of languages. We want to understand how to protect what makes each culture unique, ensuring that technological progress doesn’t come at the cost of cultural identity. This is about more than technology, it's about preserving our global diversity. The challenges we discuss will align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as: SDG 4: Quality Education SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals I would love to hear your thoughts on what more we could cover during the session, as this is a conversation that needs as many voices as possible. This is one way I impact the world with AI education, believing that the more educated societies become, the safer our future will be. My sessions are titled: “The Impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on Local Cultures and Languages” and “Data: The Lifeblood of AI Transformation and the Challenges We Face” These sessions are not just another event on AI and data; they are vital explorations of how these groundbreaking technologies are shaping and sometimes threatening our cultures, languages, and global future. The implications of Large Language Models (LLMs), like Gemini, LLaMA, GPT, Grok, Claude, or Command, on local cultures and languages are profound. These models are transforming how we communicate and access information, but they also hold the risk of marginalizing non-English languages and have the dangerous potential of spreading misinformation and undermining cultural diversity. It’s an issue we cannot afford to overlook. Equally important is the role of Data in AI transformation. Data drives innovation, but it also poses serious ethical dilemmas, such as socioeconomic divides, privacy concerns, and environmental costs. These challenges affect us all, no matter where we are or what sector we work in. I am honored that renowned speakers and researchers in AI field, including top LLM experts, have accepted my invitation. 🏄♀️ Dream Combination: Surfing After Work in California! 🌊 Achieving work-life balance, for someone with a busy schedule like mine, is a continuous pursuit - much like maintaining balance on a surfboard 😉 It’s not always easy, but when done right, the results are both productive and fulfilling. After a productive day, stepping away from the desk and hitting the waves brings a renewed sense of clarity and focus. To me, any kind of sports activity provides a much-needed mental reset and reinforces the importance of balancing high performance at work with personal well-being. I work a lot, and I love what I do. However, I have noticed that stress and tension tend to accumulate if I don't take good care of myself. Many friends ask me how I manage such a packed schedule and life full of travel. Read, enjoy, and apply - I am sharing my best practices with you to achieving this balance: 🎾 First - Physical Activity: Staying physically active is essential for me, whether it’s surfing, tennis, padel, yoga, swimming, golf, skiing, or another form of exercise. It helps me manage stress, sharpens my focus, and restores energy levels. Choose something easy and joyful, and remember - you do it for your health, not to become a professional! 🍎 You are what you eat: It is simple - when I eat nutritious food, my brain works better and gets better ideas. When I eat ‘fast & sh** food, ’ my brain gets lazy and tends to be less creative. I exchanged coffee for green tea and matcha, sweets for nuts, and I always had some veggies ready to nibble. Oh, and lots of water with lemon! 🧘♀️ Meditation and clearing my mind: With so many things on my plate, I need prioritization, and I usually follow my intuition. Intuition is like a silent voice in my head that becomes louder only in the meditation moments. So yes, meditation is like yoga to my mind. 📚 Grow your brain connections by Continuous Learning: Achieving balance is also about prioritizing your growth. I always learn new things - cooking, new languages, coding, new tools, new sports, or dancing - it keeps me agile and better prepared for professional and personal challenges. While balancing a demanding workload with personal passions can be challenging, the rewards are well worth it.
