I had the pleasure to sit down with Nate Emerson from Synadia to discuss NATS at #KubeCon . We talked a bit about how my teams have been successful using NATS, some of my favorite features, and some things I'd love to see from the team in the future. If you have use cases around pub/sub, streaming, k/v stores, object stores, edge telemetry, and global messaging fabrics (yes, it can do all of that!), reach out to the NATS team. If you’re already a NATS user, Nate Emerson would love to interview you as well) — Q1: I know NATS, but not Synadia…what’s the relationship between them? A: Synadia is the company behind NATS. NATS was created by our founder & CEO Derek. The vast majority of NATS maintainers work at Synadia. You could say we wrote the book on NATS (because we actually did 😉). If you need help with scaling or optimizing NATS, we can help! Synadia offers managed, self-hosted, and saas versions of NATS (our gobal NATS super cluster!), including our proprietary control plane for management of your NATS cluster. Q2: I don’t know NATS yet…where would it fit into my stack? A: NATS was originally a message broker. But today it’s a flexible, lightweight swiss army knife. NATS and Synadia solve problems in service discovery and connectivity, data streaming, key-value and object store, and much more. Q3: What’s the status of NATS v2.11?? A: Arriving by the end of 2024.
