Retailers are unnecessarily throwing away too much food because they are struggling to predict shelf life and optimise their inventory to sell at peak freshness.

Our solution enables retailers to scan produce at distribution centers and at the store to accurately predict days until spoilage. This enables them to improve inventory management and sell produce at the right time. Minimizing food waste.

Objectively measuring shelf-life enables buyers to better assess quality and optimize supplier agreements of produce during the season. 

How it works?

Optical sensors attached to a smartphone ‘look’ inside fruit and vegetables and analyse their content. Based on key parameters like sugar levels, water content and other taste factors our artificial intelligence accurately predicts days until spoilage in real-time. This enables anyone to instantly become an expert in freshness assessment. Our software platform analyses trends, helping retailers optimise operations across their supply chain. 

The result? Less food waste, better quality and more efficient processing.

Have you ever wondered what the future holds for supermarkets as they compete with online retailers? During a recent visit to the newly renovated REWE Kunkel store in Menningen, Germany, I caught a glimpse of this future, and it's all about enhanced service and adding a touch of fun to the shopping experience.

Fresh, Inviting Produce:
Seeing all the loose produce back in the produce section was a delight 🍇 🍏 🍐 🍅 . Customers can truly see, smell, and feel (without squeezing!) the different products. This inviting display enhances the overall shopping experience.

Innovative Customer Services:
REWE has invested in unique services to make shopping more convenient. They have an asparagus peeling machine and even a 🍍 🍍 🍍 pineapple peeling machine that delivers perfectly cut rings or squares at the push of a button.

Specialty Offerings:
For meat enthusiasts, there’s a fridge dedicated to dry-aged beef 🥩 . If customers ever feel lost, a helpful robot 🤖 is on hand to guide them to their desired products.

Interactive Experiences:
My favorite innovation is the wine-tasting machine 🍷 , which allows customers to sample new wines and make more confident purchasing decisions. 
Additionally, the OneThird Avocado 🥑 scanner near the entrance is a huge hit. Customers love ensuring they pick the perfect avocado 🥑 , whether for guacamole tonight or a few days later. This interactive feature not only boosts avocado 🥑 sales but also reduces waste: both in-store and at home 🏡 .
