Are you ready for the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (#PPWR)? 

In April, the European Parliament approved the draft of the PPWR, with final approval from the newly elected parliament expected in autumn 2024 – meaning it could become effective as early as 2026. 📅✍️

The PPWR sets forth significant changes to enhance and standardize packaging sustainability across Europe, to name just a few: 

📉 Specific targets to reduce packaging waste, requiring businesses to minimize waste generated by their packaging.
 ♻️ Stricter recyclability requirements that ensure all packaging can be reused or effectively recycled promoting a circular economy. 
 🌱Mandatory use of recycled materials in certain packaging, particularly plastics, to increase recycling rates and resource efficiency.
 🏷️Clear labeling and information mandates to guide proper disposal and recycling of packaging materials.

This journey to more recyclable packaging practices is crucial not just for compliance or the future success of the company but also for the health of our planet – and we’re proud to be a part of it at Packmatic.
