We're solving one of the most difficult problems in commercial lending: asset backed lending. ABL is more complex than simple commercial loans or lines of credit because the collateral--and the data about the collateral--changes over time.

Dealing with the volume and velocity of the data whilst ticking all the compliance boxes requires a degree of data analysis simply cannot be accomplished through traditional manual operations. AI-infused products, along with the agility that only cloud-based services can provide, is what will transform the current business models. 

AI is also an essential tool for allowing would-be borrowers to find the right the lending product. This is particularly needed in working capital lending, where the breadth of and complexity product portfolios is just too extensive for everyone to master the challenge of making the best suggestions all of the time.

We’re thrilled to announce the promotion of Laura Lampe (Smith) to Chief of Staff at Trade Ledger. 

Laura joined us as Head of People and Culture in 2019 and has served as Chief People Officer for the past two years. In that role, she has been instrumental in designing our talent management processes and learning and development plans and in managing and implementing the organizational performance and goal-setting process

In her new role, Laura will use this cross-functional birds-eye view to identify and capture opportunities to drive efficiencies and increase the pace of delivery while ensuring that people development remains at the core of our growth.

Very good to have our newest advisor, Dame Jayne-Anne Gadhia  in our London office for lunch with some of our team there. 

We had a wonderfully candid talk about her career trajectory and challenges along the way; the progress of women in financial services, the challenges of running a bank today, and how she became a Dame.

A big thank you to our partners at Microsoft for hosting us for a week-long workshop at their AI Co-innovation Lab in Munich last month.

This was an incredible opportunity to have time with two of their AI technology experts Kresimir Galic and Abdullah Ali and get support and guidance directly related to the Trade & Working Capital Copilot we are building together.

As we move toward launching the Copilot into the Azure Marketplace, we continue to be inspired by Microsoft’s enthusiasm for our AI use cases in commercial lending, and awed by the level of support they’re providing and the depth and breadth of their tooling. 

The pace of change in AI is exponential and their help surfacing the latest developments and understanding how to incorporate them into our product is invaluable. 

The Trade and Working Capital Copilot is a key component of achieving our mission to democratise access to working capital. Workshops like this are essential in helping us bring it to market quickly. Many thanks to Anna Woozley and Sindhu Sundaravadivelu for making it happen.

Adrian Bogacz has recently joined Trade Ledger as a Senior Application Security Engineer in our Krakow office.

Adrian brings years of experience in cybersecurity in roles focused on security testing, automation, and compliance.

We were very impressed with how Adrian connected with our mission: “TL's mission to democratise access to working capital deeply resonates with me as it empowers businesses to innovate and overcome temporary struggles.

We are very pleased to welcome Chris Hecht to our team in the role of Technical Project Manager. 

Chris has superpowers in strategic thinking and process improvement, along with experience in solutions architecture, along with a penchant for rolling up his sleeves and getting things done.

Chris also has rock solid skills in solutions architecture, technical project management and customer success. He’s worked at big companies and startups in financial services (WePay, acquired by JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Yapstone); enterprise software (Business Objects/SAP, Oracle Cognos, Vertica, acquired by HP) and data analytics (MongoDB and Clear Story Data ).

While he’s excited by our mission to increase access to working capital finance, knowing Chris we suspect he’s even more excited about sinking his teeth into improving all the antiquated, paper based processes around commercial lending. Very happy to have him on board.

Three reasons why commercial banking is now ready for transformation, according to Peter Hazou , Microsoft Director, Business Development, Financial Services:

✅ There are still a lot of manual processes in corporate and commercial banking that, because it’s a more profitable part of the bank, didn't cause the same crisis of profitability as we saw in retail banking. Attention is now turning to addressing those cost centres. 

✅ Technology is opening up a lot of new possibilities. There’s more data in commercial banking than can be dealt with by humans. It is now much simpler to democratise that data. And then you have artificial intelligence to sift through it, as Trade Ledger is doing with working capital lending. 

✅ Customer expectations are growing. Millennials are becoming corporate treasurers and they're more tech savvy.
