Ville de Paris ' limited traffic zone goes into effect this week. What can the data tell us about what the impact might be? 🚗 Vianova analyzed a sample of over 800,000 car trips in Paris this summer—even factoring in the Olympic influx, some key patterns emerged: ❌ Over 87% of trips already avoid the restricted zone, aided by major access roads at the edges. 📍Around 55% of trips in the zone start or end there, while 25% stay entirely within it. This leaves about 20% as pass-through traffic—slightly below the city’s 30% estimate. Where are people passing through the zone to get to? The most popular pairings were: 1️⃣ 12e ➜ 8e and 9e 2️⃣ 10e ➜ 14e and 15e 3️⃣ Outside Paris ➜ central districts (8e, 5e) What are good indications that the zone is working? 🚙 Trips to and from the zone peak midday, so we expect the most impact during morning rush hours—especially on Tuesdays, which see the highest pass-through traffic.
