Come nasce il nome Audi Il tedesco ha molte affinità col latino. All’epoca, non solo in Germania, la lingua latina veniva studiata in tutte le scuole. Così l’ingegnere decise di adottare per la nuova azienda la versione latina del proprio nome. In tedesco la parola comune “horch” è una declinazione (all’imperativo) del verbo “horcher”, significa “ascoltare”. In latino tale vocabolo nel modo imperativo si traduce per l’appunto in “audi”. L’idea venne per la precisione al figlio di Franz Fikentscher, uno dei due soci di Horch (l’altro era lo zio di Franz, Friedrich Paul Fikentscher), il quale una sera si trovava nella stessa stanza dove i tre adulti stavano discutendo sul nuovo nome. Probabilmente studente di legge, il ragazzo stava ripassando le lezioni di latino e gli venne il mente la frase “audiatur et altera pars”, locuzione che esprime uno dei cardini del diritto: il principio del contraddittorio. In italiano si tradurrebbe come “si ascolti anche l’altra parte”. Dopo qualche esitazione, il giovane espresse ad alta voce il suo pensiero e i tre adulti presero al volo il suggerimento. Così il 25 aprile 1910 nacque l’Audi col nome odierno ---- How the name Audi was born German has many affinities with Latin. At the time, not only in Germany, the Latin language was studied in all schools. So the engineer decided to adopt the Latin version of his name for the new company. In German the common word “horch” is a declension (in the imperative) of the verb “horcher”, meaning “to listen”. In Latin this word in the imperative mood translates precisely into "audi". The idea came to be precise from the son of Franz Fikentscher, one of Horch's two partners (the other was Franz's uncle, Friedrich Paul Fikentscher), who one evening was in the same room where the three adults were discussing the new name. Probably a law student, the boy was reviewing his Latin lessons and the phrase "audiatur et alter pars" came to mind, a phrase that expresses one of the cornerstones of law: the principle of adversarial proceedings. Vera o no la questione della frizione, è certa la volontà di Ferruccio Lamborghini, già costruttore di trattori, di realizzare la macchina perfetta. Lo fece a Sant’Agata Bolognese, vicina a Modena, come Maranello, ma accuratamente scelta in provincia di Bologna: un caso? Non direi. La scelta del simbolo è stata anch’essa un messaggio di sfida a quegli altri? Terreno per cospiratori: Toro era il segno zodiacale di Ferruccio, nato il 28 aprile 1916. Ma è anche vero che Lamborghini scelse i suoi fornitori seguendo una sola regola: nessuno che lavori per la Ferrari. Qualsiasi colore, possibilmente non il rosso. Anche nella scelta dei colori si comprende l’indole innovativa di Lamborghini. Fu la prima casa automobilistica a non sposare una tonalità per esigenze di riconoscibilità. Al contrario, le vetture sportive più erano colorate e più erano Lamborghini. “If you want to be someone, buy a Ferrari, if you are already someone, buy a Lamborghini”. Una curiosità importante? Ford quasi comprò Ferrari Nei primi anni del ’60, periodo non molto favorevole per la Ferrari, Henry Ford II (nipote del leggendario imprenditore) offrì a Enzo Ferrari 16 milioni di dollari per l’azienda. Ford vide nell’acquisto della Ferrari un’opportunità unica per aumentare la notorietà del marchio migliorando nelle competizioni automobilistiche. Nel maggio del 1963 Henry Ford II e alcuni dirigenti si recarono a Maranello per firmare il contratto di acquisto della Ferrari, questo però fu annullato: durante l’incontro, Enzo Ferrari scoprì una clausola che non gli piaceva.
