An Englishman has branched into bonsai (miniature trees) in Saitama Prefecture. Having studied Japanese at university in England, Harry Turton came to Japan in 2021 as a participant in the JET Programme (Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme) and was assigned to the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, Saitama as a Coordinator for International Relations. Despite no green thumb, he studied bonsai intensively after arriving and now acts as a guide for overseas visitors and translator of exhibits into English. Warm up for winter at the Taimatsu Akashi, a fire festival now centuries old!
