According to a recent public opinion poll, seven out of ten citizens responded that the management rights dispute between Korea Zinc and Young Poong – MBK Partners needs to be handled as a matter of national economic security. 76.3% of all respondents are aware of the situation, and 72.0% responded that a #National_Economic_Security approach should be considered. 64.6% of respondents agreed that there is a possibility of #Technology_Leak and brain drain as a result of such hostile M&A attempt by a private equity fund. Nevertheless, global brands have seen the limitless potential of green hydrogen and are continuously making investments in the technology. The global green hydrogen market is expected to grow from USD 642 billion in 2030 to USD 1.408 trillion by 2050, with 55% of the market value concentrated in the Asia region. In particular, Korea Zinc is pushing forward with the largest green hydrogen production project in the country and is making continuous investments to lead the global hydrogen economy with the goal of producing 100% green zinc by 2050. As many of you are already aware, Korea Zinc is facing a challenging situation as Young Poong has partnered with MBK Partners in an attempt at a hostile M&A takeover. MBK's public tender offer, which began on the 13th, will continue until the 4th of next month, with the goal of acquiring approximately 14% of our shares. It is shocking to hear that MBK, a private equity firm with no experience or expertise in smelting, believes they can acquire and run our company without any issues. Anyone who has ever set foot in our Onsan Refinery, or in any of our overseas facilities in Australia or the U.S., would understand that Korea Zinc thrives on the passion and dedication of each and every one of our employees. It’s not only offensive but deeply painful to see an uninvited intruder attempt to disrupt the hard work that our KZ community has built over the past 50 years. Korea Zinc Unveils the True Value of 'Troika Drive' Vision at #WCE2024 We participated in the World Climate Industry Expo for two consecutive years, showcasing the key businesses of 'Troika Drive': 'Renewable Energy & Green Hydrogen' and 'Resource Circulation'. Korea Zinc’s Onsan Refinery is taking the lead in popularizing hydrogen mobility by completing a hydrogen refueling station and introducing 30 hydrogen forklifts. In 2022, Korea Zinc was selected as a target company for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s national R&D project, the "Commercialization of Hydrogen Forklift Demonstration Project." With the completion of the hydrogen refueling station for hydrogen forklifts, the company has taken another significant step toward the success of this national R&D initiative. The key feature of these trial hydrogen forklifts is that they emit zero carbon dioxide. The ultimate goal of this project is to successfully operate the hydrogen refueling station and demonstrate hydrogen forklifts under 5 tons, laying the groundwork for future expansion and distribution. We expect that the successful transition from fossil fuel-based forklifts to hydrogen mobility in industrial settings will contribute to the popularization of the hydrogen industry and increase public acceptance.

Did you know that Korea Zinc uses recycled raw materials to produce copper unlike other copper smelters? Copper products produced at our Onsan refinery are certified as products made using 100% recycled raw materials through SGS(Societe Generale de Surveillance). We produce copper by recycling E-Waste and by-products from zinc, and lead. This certification objectively highlights the advantages of our recycled copper compared to that of competitors. There are many advantages in producing products using recycled raw materials such as: 1️⃣High price competitiveness compared to using copper concentrate as a raw material 2️⃣Meeting the eco-friendly specifications required in the global markets Meanwhile, we plan to expand our copper production facilities in our Onsan refinery by the first half of 2025.
