Rigetti Computing is building the world’s most powerful computers to help solve humanity’s most pressing and important problems. These systems will perform computations that today’s fastest supercomputers are incapable of — unlocking entirely new classes of problems and offering a direct path to solutions. We believe quantum computing is going to significantly affect health care, how we treat disease, how we generate energy, and how we feed humanity. Our superconducting quantum computing systems are available over the cloud via Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services.

Today we are thrilled to introduce the Novera™ QPU, the first commercially available QPU from Rigetti. Based on our fourth generation Ankaa™-class architecture, the Novera QPU features tunable couplers and a square lattice for denser connectivity and fast 2-qubit operations. The Novera QPU is manufactured in Rigetti’s Fab-1 and includes all of the hardware below the mixing chamber plate of a dilution refrigerator. We are thrilled to announce that alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS), Imperial College London, and Standard Chartered, we were awarded an Innovate UK grant to develop quantum machine learning techniques designed to enable financial institutions to more effectively process, interpret, and make decisions with complex data streams. 

Financial institutions need to continuously interpret complex data streams to extract information necessary for providing many services, including accurate credit risk evaluation and predicting emissions in the context of green finance. Classical machine learning techniques used to assist and provide insights to these services have limitations as these data streams are, in general, complex. Combining quantum computing with classical machine learning methodology could offer more powerful resources for processing these data streams, given the potential for quantum computers to process some types of information more efficiently than with classical resources alone.

The public launch of the Ankaa-2 system follows the release of the Novera™ QPU, our first commercially available QPU, which is based on the same Ankaa-class architecture and designed for hands-on access to state-of-the-art quantum hardware for foundational quantum computing R&D.
