This week, aboard the #JUICE spacecraft the Laser Altimeter instrument #GALA has taken part in Moon and Earth fly-by maneuvers in sequence – unprecedented in space flight history.

JUICE science instruments were operated during the lunar flyby and recorded test data under challenging conditions as distance changed swiftly during closest approach. The results will help to validate and further improve test parameter settings for the future exploration of Jupiter’s icy moons.

GALA was developed under responsibility of German Aerospace Center (DLR) with substantial contributions from HENSOLDT and will reach its final destination – Jupiter’s icy moon Ganymede – in 2034. We look forward to further collaborate with DLR to achieve the objectives of this exciting mission and to explore our planetary habitat!

HENSOLDT has received a further order from Thales for the delivery of additional TRS-4D naval radars for the German Navy's F126 frigates, bringing the total order value to more than 200 million euros.
 
The initial order from 2022 comprised the delivery of radars for four Niedersachsen-class frigates (F126) and a radar segment for the test centre.
 
F126 is the Germany's latest frigate programme. Following the contract extension, the F126 class will consist of six ships. Radars from the TRS family are already in service on board German Navy vessels as for example the F125 frigate and the K130 corvette.

Congratulations on half a century in service, #Tornado! Today, 14 August 2024, marks the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Tornado fighter in the South-German city of Manching.

In the slider below, we gave some small insights into how HENSOLDT and its predecessors have contributed to this aircraft over the past decades. 
Even though the number of active aircraft will gradually reduce from 2025, the aircraft will remain in service until the end of the decade, and we stand ready to continue our support until the last Tornado is decommissioned.

HENSOLDT has received a further order for the delivery of its #Dynahawk fire control sights (FLV) to the German Bundeswehr, including deliveries this year and next, with an option for further systems in 2026.
 
With Dynahawk, we are significantly increasing the first-hit probability on dynamic and distant targets of the deployed anti-tank weapons. Thanks to our IRV-MR night vision attachment, we also enable operational capability at night.
