Sympower was founded in 2015 with the mission to enable the transition to a fully renewable energy system.

❌ Upgrading our energy systems will require behavioural changes with negative consequences
✅ While it is true that we need to see behavioural and mindset changes, automation will solve these issues without negatively impacting comfort, well-being, or industrial output.

❌ Lack of trust in digital tools
✅ Demonstrating complete transparency and showcasing successful case studies and testimonials is crucial to mitigate such potential concerns.

❌ Not enough revenue or ROI for participation
✅ Participating in energy flexibility makes a lot of sense financially. In many market programmes, businesses are compensated for both availability (making their assets available even if they are not activated) and activation.

Today, we're shining the spotlight on our long time customer Boliden Aitik! ⚡

Boliden Aitik, located in Northern Sweden, is the country’s largest open-pit copper mine. By providing 8 MW (update: it's actually 10 MW now! 🚀) to the frequency holding reserve FCR-D Up, Boliden has earned several hundred thousand euros in gross revenue in the first eight months of participation, during which they have been activated five times. At the same time, Boliden plays a vital role in the stability of the Nordic grid.

What happens when the grid frequency is out of balance? ⚖️

The power grid frequency has to be kept at 50Hz at all times, or else issues such as congestion, power outages, and volatile energy prices can occur. To avoid that, balancing services like demand response are used.

Demand Response is a change in electricity consumption by end-users (such as commercial and industrial businesses) to effectively help balance the electricity grid during peak production or peak consumption times.
