Exciting news: we invested in New Optimist ! 🎊 Amsterdam-based New Optimist is a pioneering sustainable clothing brand, aiming to revolutionise the fashion industry. Led by Xander Slager and Nelleke Wegdam , the company produces attractive streetwear according to its three pillars: local, social and circular. Inspired by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, New Optimist manufactures for longer product lifetime using sustainable fabrics while taking into account end-of-life solutions. Just this September, New Optimist introduced an innovative deposit system together with Candour.Digital . Using this system, customers can return unused items and receive their deposit back, upon which New Optimist can find the right solution for each piece of clothing: reuse, repurpose or recycle. The investment was done alongside Amsterdams Klimaat en Energiefonds (AKEF) . The funds will be used to build the community, gain more visibility and further scale the production facility.
