Specialised Nutrition Europe (SNE) welcomes the recent publication of updated standards by Codex Alimentarius for follow-up formula for older infants and products for young children. This move addresses the need for science-based composition criteria for Young Child Formula (YCF), crucial for the nutritional adequacy of children aged 1 to 3. SNE Secretary General, Beat Späth said: "Young children have unique nutritional needs, yet the EU lacks specific rules for the composition and labeling of young child formula. SNE urges EU decision-makers to adopt the Codex Standard, essential for promoting the healthy development of European young children."
