Flowers Foods, Inc. produces and markets packaged bakery products in the United States. It offers fresh breads, buns, rolls, snack cakes, and tortillas, as well as frozen breads and rolls under the Nature's Own, Dave's Killer Bread, Wonder, Canyon Bakehouse, Mrs. Freshley's, and Tastykake brand names. The company distributes its products through a direct-store-delivery distribution and a warehouse delivery system, as well as operates 46 bakeries comprising 44 owned and two leased. Its customers include mass merchandisers, supermarkets and other retailers, convenience stores, national and regional restaurants, quick-serve chains, retail in-store bakeries, foodservice distributors, food wholesalers, institutions, dollar stores, and vending companies. The company was formerly known as Flowers Industries and changed its name to Flowers Foods, Inc. in 2001. Flowers Foods, Inc. was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Thomasville, Georgia.

Almost every weekend, you can find Malaysia Christian Propst, quality manager at the Jamestown bakery, volunteering around the community in her hometown of Winston-Salem, N.C.

In her free time, Malaysia helps host a food pantry and weekend meal distributions at Hope of Winston-Salem, inspects donations at Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, and works on job sites for Habitat for Humanity. She also volunteers seasonally with Samaritan Ministries Winston Salem Forsyth County, SECU Family House of Winston-Salem, Wreaths Across America, YWCA of Winston-Salem, and The Salvation Army.

She is especially passionate about supporting the hungry and homeless.

“I am very fortunate to have extra hours to give, but I encourage everyone: Even if you only have a little bit of time – even if you only have 30 minutes – try to give just a little bit,” she says. “Many people are one paycheck away from homelessness. We're all very fortunate to have the things that we have, but there are just so many people who are not.”
