This accolade recognizes their unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship within the maritime industry. In 2024 alone, SOHAR has launched several significant sustainability initiatives including the establishment of the Marsa LNG bunkering hub, which positions SOHAR as a leader in providing cleaner energy solutions for maritime operations. Additionally, the launch of the SOHAR Net Zero Alliance (SNZA) aims to accelerate Oman’s transition toward carbon neutrality by 2050 through collaboration with various industrial partners. Other noteworthy projects include biofuel bunkering in tugboat operations, the Polysilicon Factory by United Solar Holding, the Sunstar Lead Acid Battery Plant, and the Gemini Recycling Plant. Together, these projects exemplify SOHAR dedication to reducing environmental impact and fostering sustainable practices for a greener future.

في إنجازٍ جديدٍ يضاف لسجله الحافل في مجال الاستدامة، فاز ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة بجائزة ’الحماية البيئية‘ وذلك خلال حفل توزيع جوائز ’ماريتايم ستاندرد‘ لعام 2024. واستحق ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة هذا التكريم نظير جهوده المستمرة والتزامه بتعزيز الاستدامة والحماية البيئية ضمن منظومة النقل البحري. وفي العام 2024م، أطلق ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة العديد من المبادرات المهمة في مجال الاستدامة ومن بينها تأسيس مركز مرسى لتزويد السفن بالغاز الطبيعي المسال والذي يرسخ من مكانة وريادة ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة في توفير حلول للطاقة النظيفة في عمليات النقل البحري. أما ميثاق ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة للحياد الصفري، فتم إطلاقه بهدف تسريع أهداف الحياد الكربوني وتحقيقه في عام 2050م وذلك بالتعاون مع عددٍ من شركات ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة. ولم تقتصر قائمة مبادرات الاستدامة على ذلك فحسب بل تشمل قيام ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة باستخدام الوقود الحيوي في قاطراته البحرية، وإنشاء مصنع البولي سيليكون التابع ل شركة يونايتد سولار للبولي سيليكون، إضافة إلى إنشاء مصنع لإعادة تدوير بطاريات الرصاص في تعاون مع شركة شمس صحار، وإنشاء مصنع جيميني لإعادة التدوير. وتترجم هذه المبادرات التزام ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة بتقليل بصمته البيئية وتعزيز الممارسات التي تساهم في إيجاد مستقبل مستدام.

We are pleased to announce the signing of a land lease agreement with JIETAI New Energy Technology OM (FZC) to establish a Topcon Solar Cell Plant in SOHAR Freezone. With total investment of 700 million USD, this project strengthens SOHAR Port and Freezone's position as a leading hub for clean and renewable energy and supports Oman’s vision for economic diversification through investment in sustainable energy sources.

This project aligns with our commitment to Oman’s economic diversification, attracting investments, and promoting sustainable practices.
