We've been working... There is a such thing as too many trees in a forest. Think of it like this. Buildings usually have an occupancy level. When too many people are in a room or building, it is usually uncomfortable and unsafe... Same thing with trees... They begin to compete for resources (water, nutrients, & sunlight), stress each other out, and do not grow as vigorously. So we're thinning the forest ever so slightly to trigger a "release" (like a growth spurt, sort of...) so that our trees will be larger & healthier. #landmanagement

We have this vision of creating a paradise in an area that was formerly logged and not managed. Partnerships are essential to this vision... And partnerships begin with exchange and learning... We learned that a big tree is not necessarily an old tree. We can accelerate tree growth through better forest management. This travel guide served as a lifeline for African American travelers, offering listings of safe accommodations, restaurants, gas stations, and other businesses that welcomed Black patrons during a time when many establishments refused them service or accommodations solely based on race. Green's meticulous compilation of these establishments across the country provided Black travelers with a sense of security and dignity while navigating through a segregated America. "The Green Book" grew in popularity over the years, expanding its coverage and influence, and ultimately becoming an indispensable tool for Black travelers from the 1930s through the 1960s. Beyond its practical utility, Green's initiative represented a form of resistance against racial discrimination, promoting economic empowerment within the African American community by supporting businesses that embraced inclusivity.
