🌍 As different crises arise, Acted is well positioned to quickly respond and mobilise to meet needs of affected populations. Present in these countries for years, Acted relies on its knowledge of local contexts to develop emeregency responses with various local and international partners: - In Lebanon, the conflict has only been intensifying and now counts 1,200,000 displaced individuals. At the forefront of the emergency, Acted’s team has been providing essential assistance to the most vulnerable people throughout the country. - In Sudan, the escalation of the conflict results in the displacement of 10 million people, affecting neighbouring countries like Chad, Libya and South Sudan. Acted provides emergency aid, including shelter, clean water, and hygiene services to refugees and internaly displaced people, and support local populations in all countries, facing dire conditions of their own. - In the Gaza strip following the outbreak of the conflict in 2023, Acted scaled up its humanitatrian interventions supporting affected families living in precarious conditions through the rehabilitation of shelters, the provision of food and non-food items, and by facilitating access to drinking water, hygiene, and sanitation. Additionally Acted has intensified its emergency response to meet the growing needs of vulnerable populations in the West Bank. #WorldFoodDay More than 5000 individual cases identified in less than 4 months in need of nutrition support in Somalia. As a result of climate-related shocks, several districts in Somaliland continue to face high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition, with women and children worst affected. 👩👧🌍 In response to the crisis, Acted, in partnership with Candlelight and Barwaaqo Volunteer Organization (BVO) 🤝, implemented a one-year project that aims to improve access to nutrition and health services for vulnerable, displaced, and rural populations in crisis affected areas in Somaliland. The project has contributed to identify 5121 Pregnant and Lactating Women (PWL) and children under 5, in a situation of Acute or Severe Malnutrition. They have benefited from on site treatment and nutritional supplements to regain strength and restore their appetite. In line with its #3ZERO goals, Acted's programming aims to support households and reduce hunger by addressing basic food needs across its 43 countries of intervention.

🇰🇬 Meet Mirgul, an entrepreneur in Kyrgyzstan, who received support from Acted and a loan from Acted’s microfinance affiliate ( OXUS Group & OXUS Kyrgyzstan ) to expand her clothing and design business! The results? A tenfold increase in revenue, 3 new hires and a thriving inclusive business 💪 Initially pursuing a career in accounting, her journey took a different direction and Mirgul switched to her true passion for fashion design during the pandemic. 🌍𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝟯 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 Three women from Surigao del Norte are championing the link between water practices and health through iWASH councils, established in 2024 as part of the Typhoon Odette WASH Recovery and Rehabilitation Project. These councils address climate risks to water, sanitation, and hygiene by training officials and personnel, as well as linking stakeholders. 🚰 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗥. 𝗙𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗼 – 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Mayor Karissa Fetalvero has prioritized WASH in her municipality since taking office, leading the iWASH council and collaborating with health workers and local teams to embed hygiene practices in her community. Her participation in the council allowed her to take part in reflections on possible challenges by ensuring direct contact through meetings involving barangay health workers, the Barangay Peace Action Team, and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars. 🩺 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗻 – 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗮-𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Coleen, a Rural Sanitary Inspector, works on three critical aspects of her community’s wellbeing: sanitary issues, nutrition. The collaborative efforts of the iWASH council put in place are essential for her to be able to collect up to date data and foster partnerships with barangay officials, to drive health advocacy and sanitation improvements. Ensuring they have the tools to implement necessary changes. 👩⚕️ 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗧.𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼 municipality, tackles the effects of poor water quality on health, something she was highly aware of before her involvement with Acted. Dr.T.Almoite focuses on education and community engagement: a key factor for her is effective communication on the effects of poor sanitation and hygiene through group discussions with the community.
