Looking forward to COP29 in Baku. This summit comes at a critical inflection point, particularly for advancing Article 6 frameworks that will underpin a robust, actionable global carbon market essential for scaling climate finance. I look forward to connecting with Native, a Public Benefit Corporation project host countries, VCM stakeholders, and project developers to align private-sector action and national climate objectives under the Paris Agreement. To be frank, the VCM has nowhere to go but up. COP29 presents a unique opportunity to fine-tune Article 6 mechanisms and provide countries the necessary momentum to move forward with their own domestic schemes with the potential for a massive scaling of global carbon finance. It's also encouraging to see American Sustainable Business Network members joining us in Baku, underscoring US business leadership in actionable climate commitments. Regardless of next week's election outcome, this voice is more important than ever. We have much to champion from recent federal action (Inflation Reduction Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, new regs from EPA on methane, energy production and transportation). At the same time, we need to hold our government accountable to these commitments. Let’s continue to build a strong foundation in Baku that will carry us forward to COP30 in Brazil and beyond. Sustainability leaders in the US have received Donald #Trump ’s presidential election victory with a mixture of concern and determination to continue the fight against #ClimateChange . “There is no denying that another Trump presidency will stall national efforts to tackle the climate crisis and protect the environment, but most U.S. state, local, and private sector leaders are committed to charging ahead.," said Dan Lashof , U.S. Director, World Resources Institute . 💚🎉 Just in: SCOTUS rejected requests to halt the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 's carbon pollution standards for power plants! 📣 “The fight isn't over. Polluters still intend to try to block these crucial common-sense standards in the lower courts.
