To address this, BMC launched the Early Medical School Selection Program, which allows students to take summer science courses in Boston, complete their senior year at Boston University, and qualify for automatic admission to BU’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Sustainable innovation is a critical extension of BMC Health System’s mission to improve the health and well-being of our patients and communities. Clean Power Prescription is just one of the ways that we are advancing our mission. The pilot program is a first-in-the-nation initiative that allows BMC providers to write patients a prescription for a reduced utility bill, supporting economic and environmental health and bringing low-income households the benefits of clean, less-expensive renewable solar power. Research led by H3Africa Consortium and co-investigator Titilayo Ilori, MBBS, found up to 50% of people in some West African populations with just 1 copy of a APOL1 variant are at higher risk for chronic kidney disease.
