Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF) was established by the ten members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) together with the People's Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea (ASEAN+3) and Asian Development Bank (ADB).

CGIF is a key component of the Asian Bond Markets Initiative (ABMI) of the ASEAN+3 cooperation. It has been established to promote economic development, stability and resilience of financial markets in the region. The main function of CGIF is to provide credit guarantees for local currency denominated bonds issued by investment grade companies in ASEAN+3 countries.

Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility attended the Interbank Offsite event organized by VBMA last August 9-11 in Da Nang, Vietnam. This event provided a platform for all members and financial market traders in Vietnam to network, learn, exchange viewpoints, and share experiences in the market.

Dong Woo Rhee, Chief Financial Officer, was one of the keynote speakers at the event.

Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility, a trust fund of the Asian Development Bank (“CGIF”) has guaranteed Vongsayam Korsang Co., Ltd’s (“VSK”) three-, five-, seven-, and ten-year bonds amounting to THB1,955.80 million. The transaction has achieved two significant breakthroughs: Firstly, the ten-year tranche is the longest THB bond to be guaranteed by CGIF to date. Secondly, it is the first CGIF-guaranteed offering placed entirely to high net worth individuals only.

Mr. Anuj Awasthi, Vice President for Operations, of Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility, a trust of the Asian Development Bank ("CGIF") has attended the CICC China – Southeast Asia Economic and Finance Forum in Singapore last 26 June as one of the panelists for the Asian Credit Markets: Impact of Higher Interest Rates and Tighter Financial Conditions panel discussion. 

In this panel, a balance mix of issuers and buy-side institutions has shared their experience on how they navigate the challenging funding/investment market environment.

The Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility, a trust fund of the Asian Development Bank (“CGIF”) has played a pivotal role in facilitating landmark bond issuances in the ASEAN+3 region so far this year, supporting a total of six local currency transactions. Three of these issuances mark significant milestones catalysing green finance and sustainable investing in the region.
