Cordaid is an international non-governmental organization that focuses on reducing fragility and strengthening the resilience of communities in conflict-affected areas. The organization aims to tackle poverty and exclusion by providing humanitarian aid, improving health care systems, promoting inclusive economic development, and advocating for peaceful and just societies.

Cordaid is an internationally operating value-based emergency relief and development organisation, working in and on fragility. We stand with those who are hit hardest by poverty and conflict. We support them in their struggle to move beyond survival and to fully participate in equitable and resilient societies.

Since the escalation of the war in February 2022, Cordaid has been collaborating with the members of Caritas Internationalis to provide various forms of humanitarian assistance in Ukraine. Now the activities are nearing the two-year mark, we are highlighting one of the many achievements of our Ukrainian colleagues.

Als onderdeel van de Dutch Relief Alliance werkt SOS Kinderdorpen samen met verschillende ontwikkelingsorganisaties. Met als doel: sneller en effectiever reageren op rampen en crises, overal ter wereld.

Zo ook in Ethiopië, waar de bevolking dagelijks met vele uitdagingen kampt. In de Amhara regio vrezen mensen voor hun leven door gevechten tussen rebellengroepen en het regeringsleger. Door de droogte is er op veel plekken onvoldoende drinkwater. Vee sterft en gewassen drogen uit. 

SOS Kinderdorpen bood samen met Nederlandse en Ethiopische partners noodhulp. Een samenwerking met impact:

“Without this machine, it would have been impossible to identify what was causing my pain", says Rosette, a patient at the Bisoro Communal Hospital in Burundi.

A simple solution to a complex problem: we provided an ultrasound machine to the hospital and trained the staff on how to use it. This new piece of equipment has now significantly improved the quality of health care in the area.

Many Afghans now returning from Pakistan left decades ago. A lot of the younger forced returnees have lived their entire lives in Pakistan, often in big cities. 

Now, they have to go back to their places of origin, places they hardly know, (often rural villages) and start from scratch, in a country that already has over 6 million internally displaced people. A country, on top of that, still recovering from decades of conflict, political turmoil, an economic crisis, and recent earthquakes.
