Today, we are spotlighting Monique Carswell, another EarthShare board member! 

Monique Carswell is the Director of the Center for Racial Equality at the Walmart Foundation. Walmart.org represents the philanthropic efforts of Walmart and the Walmart Foundation. By leaning in where our business has unique strengths, we work to tackle key social issues and collaborate with others to spark long-lasting systemic change. 

When asked, "What personally motivates you to serve on EarthShare's board?" Carswell responds, 

“My desire to make sustainable practices an everyday lifestyle and serve as an example of this to members of my community is what personally motivates me to serve on EarthShare's board. Broadening the lens and perspective for what environmental justice and advocacy means, and for whom, is what I hope to contribute by being a part of the organization's leadership.”

Seven Generations Ahead's mission is to promote the development of ecologically sustainable and healthy communities. 
 
SGA works with local government, community and private sector leaders to help communities make the changes they need to create a healthy and sustainable future. Through community-wide sustainability planning and implementation, project design and implementation, educational conferences and forums, community network development, consulting, and programs, SGA is a catalyst for local community solutions to global environmental issues. SGA's work covers a broad range of sustainability topics, including energy efficiency and renewable energy, transportation, healthy community development, waste reduction, water conservation, green business, procurement, local, sustainable food, healthy eating, open space and ecosystem enhancement, and sustainability education.

Ting Lee is the Assistant Director, Programs & Compliance at The Sierra Club Foundation and serves as a Board Chair at EarthShare. 

The Sierra Club Foundation promotes climate solutions, conservation, and movement building through a powerful combination of strategic philanthropy and grassroots advocacy. As the fiscal sponsor of the charitable programs of the Sierra Club, they provide resources to it and other nonprofit organizations to support scientific, educational, literary, organizing, advocacy, and legal programs that further their goals. 

When asked, "What personally motivates you to serve on EarthShare's board?" Lee responds, “I first became involved with EarthShare as a member representative from my work at two different environmental nonprofits and was inspired to serve on the board because I could see the tremendous impact from participating in workplace giving campaigns under the federation of EarthShare and wanted to be part of its transformation into an organization that expands support for the environmental movement beyond workplace giving campaigns. As chair over the last three years, I have been particularly proud to oversee advancement of our justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion strategy by increasing visibility of the environmental justice groups in our network and the launch of an online giving and engagement platform to make strategic environmental philanthropy accessible to everyone.”
