I'm happy to report on the 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 (SASCRS) which took place this year in Durban. This is an outstanding meeting of friends and the The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) including President Filomena Ribeiro MD,PhD,FEBO , past President Oliver Findl , past President Béatrice Cochener-Lamard and me participated this year in an ESCRS Academy. The symposium reported on new trends in Presbyopia-correcting IOL’s including nomenclature. Especially the question of retinal detachment in high myopic patients (Findl), nomenclature (Ribeiro), new IOL’s (Cochener-Lamard) and how to treat refractive errors after refractive lens surgery (Kohnen). This is one of the highlights the ESCRS can provide to foreign societies to bring renown speakers from the ESCRS to countries and contribute to the education research in these areas. I'm also happy to report that I was supported by the SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions GmbH with whom we most recently started experimental and clinical work with the 𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗦 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 for 𝗞𝗟𝗘𝗫. In summary... the Durban-meeting, like several other SASCRS which I visited before, turned out to be a great meeting with high scientific content, great discussion and many of us again have made friends around the world. #SASCRS #ESCRS #IOL #Refractive #eye
