The Farmlink Project connects farmers to communities facing food insecurity, delivering millions of pounds of farm fresh produce that would otherwise be wasted to feed families in need.

The Farmlink Project is a national 501(c)(3) that has rescued and distributed over 100 million pounds of food to food banks across the country.

When we started this project three years ago, we were just a bunch of college kids, looking to do something—anything—to help out our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Today, we are a national nonprofit that has delivered over 130 million pounds of food to people across the entire country.

We're on a mission to end hunger within our lifetimes. Our film explains how.

It's been a little over a month since USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack released the White House Strategy for Reducing Food Loss and Waste and Recycling Organics. We've previously shared what we're most excited about and where our advocacy was directly incorporated- and now we're happy to share that we've released a full breakdown of the new strategy: what's new, what's exciting, and what falls short. Check it out below and in this week's issue of one of our favorite newsletters, the Food Policy Debrief!

Looking forward, we'll use these insights to understand where the greatest potential exists for the Farmlink Project and other food rescue organizations to contribute to achieving the US goal of reducing food loss and waste by 50% by 2030. The deadline is tight, but we're moving fast and ready to create a more sustainable and equitable food system for all.

We were so excited to have our amazing Head of Policy & Advocacy, Sophia Adelle, representing Farmlink at Food Tank’s recent event on Capitol Hill as an advocate for large-scale produce rescues and creating equitable distribution networks across the country. She joined several members of Congress, fellow nonprofits, and industry leaders to position Farmlink as a key part of the nation’s food system, providing a critical safety net that ensures fresh, wholesome food ends up on people’s tables instead of landfills.

We are grateful for a network of incredible leaders and change-makers; in particular, thank you to Food Tank for providing the space for us to come together and share our ideas and visions for the future of food. We are dreaming big and moving fast within this network and are excited for what’s to come on our journey to make the abundance of nutritious food accessible to everyone!

We are thrilled to have been involved in the Gen Z Food & Hunger Summit! 

Thank you to all the participants and organizers for making this event a success and for providing us with the tools to empower the next generation of leaders to drive impactful solutions.

Last week, a group of our FIELD fellows joined over 50 students from across the country at the Gen Z Food & Hunger Summit for an advocacy crash course, followed by an opportunity to take action. Young people taking the issues they care about into their own hands is at the core of Farmlink’s DNA, and we were incredibly proud to join the Congressional Hunger Center and Food Systems Collaborative at this year’s Gen Z Food & Hunger Summit. The FIELD fellows had the opportunity to learn from policy experts (including our own Head of Policy & Advocacy, Sophia Adelle) about the intricacies of advocating for federal legislation. They then put what they’d learned into practice by meeting with Congressional offices representing their districts, whether it was where they live, go to school, or are immersed this summer.

Each student advocated for the Food Date Labeling Act (FDLA) or the Opportunity to Address College Hunger Act (OACHA), which are critical pieces of legislation that will help reduce food waste and fight hunger nationwide. We were so excited to be a partner in this movement of young people fighting for food security in their communities and across the country, building momentum behind key legislation that centers innovative, common-sense solutions.
