Did you know Georgia ranks 8th in the U.S. for agricultural exports? The International Trade team is showcasing the strength of our state’s agricultural economy alongside two Georgia companies this week at the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Muscadine Products Corporation produces phytochemically-rich muscadine grape nutraceutical powders and extracts for manufacturers in the cosmetics, functional foods, dietary supplements, and botanicals industries. AGRI International LLC is an experienced exporter who connects directly with major international producers to connect them with the finest quality ingredients from American farmers. Collectively, these companies and GDEcD demonstrate the versatility and vitality of agribusiness in Georgia.

Intentional decision making and community partnership helped Dublin-Laurens County land Hyundai Metaplant supplier Hwashin, a project that will bring more than 460 new jobs and "change the landscape for Dublin-Laurens County," according to Laurens County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeff Davis.

When local leadership invested time and money into preparing the site Hwashin will soon call home, including having the property certified through the state's Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) program, they proved that completing prep work in advance gives sites a competitive edge – because speed-to-market matters for companies looking to invest in Georgia.

“Georgia was ready when production resumed after the work stoppage from a global pandemic, we are again ready as productions move forward," says Georgia Film Office Director Lee Thomas. "Since January 2023, more than 800,000 additional square feet of state-of-the-art stage space has come online, so we can host more projects than ever before. In addition to this new infrastructure, we have tens of thousands of trained film and television technicians ready to work, as well as diverse locations, the convenience of having the world’s busiest airport, and a stable and competitive film incentive. Georgia should be at the top of everyone’s mind when it comes to locating film and television projects.”

The 120-acre Airport North Industrial Park, located at 7200 Industrial Highway in Macon-Bibb County, has earned the “GRAD Select” status, indicating a site has met or exceeded the state’s most rigorous certification requirements.

Speed-to-market solutions, such as the GRAD program, helped spur a 112% growth in statewide advanced manufacturing investments in fiscal year 2023, compared to fiscal year 2021.

Georgia is at the top of everyone's mind when it comes to locating film and television projects. From the opening of Gray Television's Assembly Atlanta studios in Doraville last month to the 20th year of the Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) in Rome, Georgia, happening this weekend, the direct results of public and private sector film and infrastructure investments can be seen across the state.

Rivian has announced a new apprenticeship program that will allow participants to cover tuition through Georgia’s HOPE career grants program and be paid as maintenance technicians as they finish training.

The 24-month program includes an opportunity for participants to work in the company's Normal, Illinois, facility, which Governor Brian Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, and Georgia legislators toured earlier this week.
