Washington, D.C.–based DG Fuels announced the selection of a site for a roughly $5B manufacturing facility and hundreds of good jobs in Moorhead, Minn., that will produce low-carbon sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using agricultural and wood waste as feedstock. The 193M gallons projected by DG Fuels would represent nearly half of the fuel used at the MSP International Airport. A milestone for the MN SAF Hub, and the state’s most significant commitment toward commercial-scale SAF production, the news demonstrates how building a new SAF economy in Minnesota will create opportunities that stretch from the MSP tarmac to every corner of the state. The announcement also reflects Minnesota’s compelling value proposition to SAF producers, which includes abundant and diverse feedstocks, clean electricity, mature rail networks and strong state support. https://hubs.li/Q02X0Vf10

Great news: Baxter International Inc. 's International’s kidney care business plans to locate a $41M research and development center in Golden Valley. Expected to create about 70 jobs, the R&D center will be one of four around the world for Vantive, the kidney care unit. With $3.2M in Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) financing incentives, this new center is one of more than a dozen projects our business investment team is engaged in to secure and expand industries that create good jobs for our region. https://lnkd.in/geEi-CRF

The Itasca Project announced that Steve Grove, CEO and publisher of The Minnesota Star Tribune , will become its chair effective January 2025. New Route Anouncement! Delta is increasing connectivity to Europe with the addition of a brand-new nonstop service from its hub in Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Copenhagen (CPH) starting May 2025, operating three times weekly. Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott made a $1.5 million donation to Minneapolis-based Mni Sota Fund , a Minnesota wealth-building nonprofit that focuses on Native first-time homebuyers. Its work is part of a strategy to address vast gaps in homeownership across the region, particularly for Native Minnesotans. The unexpected donation gives a boost to the nonprofit, now leading a capital campaign to build a headquarters, generate more lending capital and expand its team.
