Grist is an American non-profit online magazine founded in 1999 that publishes environmental news and commentary. Its mission is to show that a just and sustainable future is within reach. Grist offers reporting, interviews, opinion pieces, daily news, book reviews, food and agricultural coverage, and green advice. The magazine is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and has about 50 writers and employees. Its CEO is former state representative Brady Walkinshaw.

The Department of the Interior announced today an additional 15 projects to its portfolio of clean energy initiatives, raising the number of approved projects on public lands to 46 since 2021.

Announcing the 2024-2025 cycle for the Grist Journalism Fellowships! We are offering four paid, remote journalism fellowships that include salary and benefits.

Our fellowships give early-career journalists with a demonstrated interest in environmental issues the experience to succeed in climate and environmental media. We offer real-world experience at a fast-paced news site, training in a variety of skills key to a journalism career, and exposure to the leading sustainability thinkers and theories of our time.

The experience runs March 3, 2024 through Feb 28, 2025. Our deadline for applying is November 26, 2023. Applicants may apply to more than one position. Our fellowships are in the following areas:
