What’s motivated you to stay for 20+ years with the organization?
- I have been fortunate to have many opportunities for growth in my experience, knowledge, and responsibility over the last 22 years. I was lucky to have exposure to leadership who invested their time in helping me grow at the American Heart Association.

What’s one of your favorite memories as an employee here?
- It’s a more recent memory, but it ties back to a collection of memories over the last 20+ years: The Anaheim meeting in August 2023 – It connected me back with so many of the people I worked with over the years. It filled me with so much joy and brought back so many good memories and experiences after connecting with them in person again. I’m not positive of the statistics, but I do know many people have been here for over 10 years. It is such a rewarding experience to be able to work with familiar faces over decades as you grow your career throughout the organization.

Having a pet 🐶 is good for the heart ❤️

The facts: Petting a dog can lower your blood pressure, and humans who walk their dogs regularly face 1/3 the risk of diabetes of those who don’t own a dog.

A third of U.S. adults are at high risk for CKM syndrome, but many patients receive fragmented care. Today we are proud to launch an initiative to change that with American College of Physicians, American Diabetes Association, American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, STOP Obesity Alliance at The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health and Cardiometabolic Center Alliance. 

Over the next four years, the Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Health Initiative will work to implement a person-centered approach to awareness, professional and patient education, and treatment of #CKMSyndrome. #cardiology #nephrology

Shoeless Joe Jackson's widow, Katie, left part of her estate to fund heart disease research after the baseball legend died of a heart attack in 1951. The AHA also receives royalties from songwriters, authors and images of movie star Joan Crawford that help fund our mission. #AHABoldHearts
