• The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit biomedical research institution founded in 1929 in Bar Harbor, Maine.

RESEARCH
• With more than 60 faculty members, our diverse and multidisciplinary research programs include the National Cancer Institute-designated JAX Cancer Center, as well as coordinated research centers focused on addiction, aging, Alzheimer’s and dementias, genomics and computational biology, precision genetics and rare disease.
• JAX has had a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center since 1983, and is one of only seven institutes in the United States that has received this designation for its contributions to basic cancer research.
• Our researchers have made significant contributions to medical progress, including bone marrow and organ transplants, stem cell therapies and in vitro fertilization.

EDUCATION

JAX is a partner in two major projects funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) with a combined $60 million investment to advance biomedical research through data-driven approaches and AI. Focused on developing cutting-edge technologies to tackle cancer treatment and optimize drug prescriptions, the two high-risk, high-reward projects are currently underway with Edison Liu and Shuzhao Li . We're excited to host Professor Nadia Rosenthal, as guest speaker for our upcoming Allan and Maria Myers Lecture next Wednesday 20 November. Professor Nadia Rosenthal is the Scientific Director and Maxine Groffsky Endowed Chair at The Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, Maine), and holds a Chair in Cardiovascular Science at Imperial College London . She obtained her PhD from Harvard Medical School , where she later directed a biomedical research laboratory. Subsequently, Professor Rosenthal established a laboratory at the Cardiovascular Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital directing a large group of fundamental and clinical researchers. Professor Rosenthal is a global leader in cardiovascular development, molecular biology and regenerative medicine. In addition to two highly cited textbooks, she has published over 240 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and monographs.
