In celebration of #InternationalWomensDay on March 10th, MEDA's Nigeria #WAY project team organized a #radio program across 9 major radio stations in #BauchiState which aimed to create awareness about the importance of women's participation in the #digitaleconomy and provided information on how women can access #digital resources and opportunities. 

The digital economy is a rapidly growing sector that offers many opportunities for #entrepreneurship, #innovation, and job creation but women are often underrepresented and are more likely to work in low-paying, insecure jobs. Empowering women with the skills and knowledge they need to participate fully in the digital economy can lead to more #inclusive and #equitable economic growth that benefits everyone.

The Nigeria WAY team also hosted an informative webinar titled "Women's Engagement in Nigeria's Digital Economy" which shared experiences of women in business in Northern #Nigeria with special focus on Women in Business Forum #WIBFO and its experience in integrating more than 2,500 #womenentrepreneurs with a common goal.

March 22nd is #WorldWaterDay and the start of the first United Nations 2023 #WaterConference which is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to unite the world around solving the water and sanitation crisis. 

Access to #safewater is the most basic human need for health and well-being, but billions of people still lack access to this basic resource. Dysfunction throughout the #watercycle undermines progress on all major global issues, from health and hunger to #genderequality and employment. 

In collaboration with the Canadian Coalition on Climate Change and Development (#C4D), #MEDA has signed an open letter urging the Government of Canada to strengthen Canada’s leadership in global #watergovernance, strengthen #partnerships to improve #sustainable water resources management, and more.
