Farmers in Burkina Faso, through the USAID-funded TIFR Project, are learning about farming techniques to improve their harvests and to adapt to their ever-changing environment. They receive this training through picture-based and audio materials provided through their Nuru-supported cooperatives.

Kinda – one farmer who has received this training – shares, “This allows us to put into practice and continuously learn the good agricultural techniques received during the training. Also, the fact of having the training in audio media allows us to listen to them at any time wherever we are. 

Yesterday was market day, and I decided to listen to the audios and was surprised to find that the women around me were interested. I invited them to join me and also to join the cooperative in order to learn more. This year, if all goes well, I will be able to have a good harvest because I followed the training and applied the techniques I learned.”

Nuru Kenya's introduction of the Nuru Feed Mill has not only ensured that farmers can access feed at a lower cost, but it also paved the way for more resilient and productive farming.

In October, Nuru Nigeria organized a World Food Day forum with Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation. This event included an informative panel discussion, bringing together food security experts to engage in vital conversations with the true heroes of food production — local farmers.

Nuru Nigeria and ACT Foundation worked together to foster this critical dialogue between experts and local farmers. 

Equipping farmers with the training and resources that they need to adapt to a changing environment is crucial to food security. 

This timely forum paves the way for continued climate change adaptation within Nigeria’s agricultural sector, as participants explored innovative techniques, discussed the latest research, and shared valuable insights with one another.

Meet Husnat, a farmer whose life took a welcome change thanks to Nuru Nigeria's distribution of rams and ewes in her community. 

From doing household chores, Husnat now spends most of her days raising her ewe and its newborn lambs.
