🚀 Neuromorphic Computing for Space: Recognized Innovation at DASC 2024! 🌌 At DASC 2024, Parallax Advanced Research , together with the OSGC (Ohio Space Grant Consortium) , University of Dayton (UD), University of Cincinnati (UC), Sinclair Community College , and Brno University of Defense Defense in Czechia, received finalist honors for their neuromorphic computing project aimed at space exploration. Led by Dr. Steve Harbour, PhD , Stephen Schlager , and David Harbour (OSGC intern, UD), this project leverages neuromorphic event-based systems to power autonomous navigation for NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration ’s Mars drones—critical in resource-scarce environments like Mars. On October 9th, Parallax Advanced Research ’s GRILL ( Air Force Research Laboratory 's Gaming Research Integration for Learning Lab) STEM Manager, Gretchen Capogna , joined YouScience Family Night at Fairmont High School, Kettering, OH, engaging all 8th-grade students across Kettering City School District . YouScience is a cutting-edge career guidance platform that helps students discover their aptitudes and align them with potential career paths. By utilizing a series of scientifically-based assessments, YouScience identifies students' natural talents and matches them with in-demand careers that they may not have previously considered. This personalized approach empowers students to make informed decisions about their futures and equips them with the knowledge to pursue fulfilling and successful careers. Gretchen via the GRILL provided an interactive and engaging table at the event through the GLIMMER (Geological Landscape Illumination and Mapping of the Moon’s Environment and Reflections) sim VR experience that was created by 2023 summer Wright Scholar High School interns.
