Thanks to support from the Richard King Mellon Foundation and with guidance from park users and community leaders, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is advancing work to revitalize Baxter Park in Homewood and upgrade entrances, signage, and connectivity in Mellon Park.

Congratulations to the inaugural class of Duquesne University’s new medical school. The Foundation contributed $2 million to Duquesne’s new College of Osteopathic Medicine, which will focus on training primary-care physicians to serve in rural and urban areas where the shortage of primary-care physicians is most acute. Opportunity is knocking – and Braddock is the beneficiary. Congratulations to Arctaris Impact Investors, RDC Design + Build and Allegheny County on the announcement that a closed vertical farm in Braddock will be repurposed for cold storage and manufacturing, creating 50 to 100 jobs. The Foundation invested $4 million with Arctaris to enable investments in Opportunity Zone communities such as Braddock.
