SIA represents 99 percent of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms. SIA is pleased to launch its U.S. Semiconductor Ecosystem Map, a new tool that highlights industry activities across the country, including nearly 500 locations in 42 states. The map shows locations for manufacturing, chip design, intellectual property and chip design software providers, semiconductor materials and manufacturing equipment, and R&D. Earlier today, Semiconductor Research Corporation released a new guide to advancing #semiconductor research and innovation: the Microelectronics and Advanced Packaging (MAPT) Roadmap. The Roadmap summarizes the key drivers of technology progress, provides guidance for how to achieve the technical challenges outlined in the 2030 Decadal Plan for Semiconductors, and strategizes for developing the workforce required to realize the promises of these innovations. Taiwan plays a critical role in the global semiconductor ecosystem and is a top trading partner for U.S. semiconductor companies. Without a tax treaty in place, however, companies doing business between the U.S. and Taiwan encounter unnecessary and burdensome barriers to trade.

SIA was excited to participate in the World Trade Organization’s public forum last week to talk about the importance of #semiconductors, sustainability, and the WTO. Given the intricate nature of global semiconductor supply chains, it is vital for the WTO to move forward with new initiatives to further facilitate the deployment of emissions-reducing technologies through initiatives such as the further expansion of the Information Technology Agreement (ITA-3), maintaining the E-Commerce Moratorium, and strengthening the WTO as a global institution to support and guide rules-based trade across technologies and markets.
