⚡ What’s the pulse of the growing electric mobility sector in #Kenya ? Which obstacles are impact entrepreneurs facing and what recommendations do they have for stakeholders? Siemens Stiftung in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH will publish a new report: “Unlocking the Growth Potential of Kenya's E-Mobility Sector”. 🔗 Join our online session on November 14, 2024, 12 p.m. CET, to discuss the results with experts from the sector: https://lnkd.in/dPr5jpBA ℹ The report will highlight Kenya’s track to become a leader in sustainable transportation and is published as part of the “Piloting and Prepare to Scale E-Mobility in Kenya” project. The e-mobility sector generates impact, particularly in the two-wheeler or “boda boda” sector. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves air quality, but also creates jobs and perspectives for youth. Key levers for a faster adaption include government policies, the expansion of charging infrastructure and strategic investments. Challenges such as reliance on imported components, regulatory barriers and high operating costs remain. But Kenya's private sector foresees continued growth of the e-mobility market. 🌿 Siemens Stiftung recently held a three-day workshop on #CarbonMarkets and #ClimateFinancing tailored for the e-mobility sector in Kenya. Participants deepened their understanding of carbon markets, worked through methodologies for calculating emissions across organizational and project levels, and gained actionable insights into climate finance, equipping them with tools to design viable carbon financing models. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 🔹 A key concept discussed was additionality where participants explored methodologies to strengthen the credibility of carbon credits in the #eMobility sector. 🔹 The training underscored how aggregation of e-mobility carbon projects can play a critical role in scaling efforts and enhancing the market value of carbon credits, making financing more accessible to e-mobility stakeholders. 🔹 Therefore, stakeholders must work together to tap into broader financing opportunities and strengthen the entire e-mobility sector. 🔹 Policy was recognized as a crucial driver in unlocking substantial funding for e-mobility initiatives, drawing lessons from successful models in other regions that have effectively mobilized resources to support the industry. 🔹 With insights into carbon project development cycles, emissions reporting, and climate finance modeling, participants left equipped to design effective and sustainable financing strategies for their own companies within #Kenya 's e-mobility sector. The project enhances the learning experiences of students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects through Open Educational Resources. (OER) in line with the recommendations of India’s National Curriculum Framework. Experimento India reaches out to students from over 170 government schools across eight Indian states. It bridges the digital learning divide by providing internationally recognized education resources to improve their learning outcomes.
