COTE D'IVOIRE - WBAF Launches Its First National Commission in Western Africa, Catalyzing Economic Development - The World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), announces the establishment of the WBAF National Commission Côte d’Ivoire. In a landmark decision, Gnoungo Mariam KONE, WBAF Senior Senator, has been appointed as the Head of Mission for this pioneering initiative.

Côte d’Ivoire – In a historic move, the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) has established its first National Commission in Western Africa. This significant milestone aims to foster economic development and innovation in the region by providing a platform for angel investors, startups, and entrepreneurs. The new commission will focus on creating investment opportunities, supporting entrepreneurial growth, and integrating the region's business ecosystem with global markets. This initiative is expected to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and drive sustainable development across Cote d’Ivoire and Western Africa.

Role and Impact of WBAF National Commissions
WBAF National Commissions serve as key agencies for consultation, liaison, and information, mobilizing and coordinating partnerships with national stakeholders, including civil society. These commissions make substantial contributions to advancing WBAF’s objectives and implementing its programmes. Operating on a permanent basis, National Commissions aim to integrate local early-stage equity markets and startup economies with the work of the Forum.

Each National Commission is tasked with developing a national entrepreneurship and investment ecosystem within their country. This involves connecting all players in the early- and post-early stage equity markets with global capital markets. The National Commission will act as the global voice for a nation or region's early-stage equity and investment market. 

Leadership of the National Commission
Each National Commission is led by a Head of Mission (HoM), who holds ultimate responsibility for all mission-related matters. The Head of Mission ensures the effective use of human resources associated with their National Commission.

The Head of Mission also represents the Forum in dealings with local authorities and partners. Under the leadership of the Head of Mission, the primary task of the Commission is to introduce WBAF financial inclusion programmes to the country’s ecosystem and establish a Country Office to implement these initiatives.
